Yet another great Audrey find today! The mastermind behind How to Be Lovely (aka Life is Marvelous) has found a really fantastic Breakfast at Tiffany’s sleep mask. The Fred Flare version of Holly’s turquoise mask is part of the “How to be Audrey Hepburn/Holly Golightly For Halloween” post, but this new mask is just amazing. It’s an exact replica of Holly’s mask, down to the three-dimensional eyelids with gems peeping out as the sleepiest little eyes.

I’ve just found an excellent story that I’m sure everyone will love! From the North Devon Gazette comes the story of John Pollitt, an 84 year old retired metalworker who hasn’t painted in more than 50 years. A while ago he was in a video store and came across Breakfast at Tiffany’s and My Fair Lady. Intrigued, he bought the films and watched them at home and wanted to know more about leading lady Audrey Hepburn. He then bought a book biography on her and started watching biography programs on her when they were on TV, and finally dusted off his paint supplies and started painting her. So far there are 16 portraits of Audrey, from Audrey as Holly Golightly to Audrey in her final role as Goodwill Ambassador to UNICEF, holding a small child. I’ve noticed that lots of people have been coming here for Audrey Hepburn or Holly Golightly costume tips, and it got me curious. I would love to see what you guys look like dressed as Audrey! It could be your Halloween costume or just an everyday outfit, but take a pic and send it in! Just a quick note to let everyone know that eagle-eyed reader Amy Beth has spotted another great Audrey-style dress from Target. This one is the Merona Full Skirt TRW dress and has a tie-front waist and a flared skirt, very cute and stylish, and not unlike Holly Golightly’s tie-front dress from Breakfast at Tiffany’s. It seems I’ve been remiss in my duties again. A lot of women have been searching for Audrey Hepburn, Holly Golightly, or Breakfast at Tiffany’s sewing patterns so they can make their own costumes for Halloween (or everyday life, because Audrey Hepburn is year-round!), and I just left you to your own devices. I’ve felt guilty, though, and all day yesterday I scoured the Internet for suitable patterns to make you dream Audrey costume. Be prepared and take notes, because there’s a lot here! I’m also going to make this a regular theme, updating once a season for any new patterns, so check back once in a while for new goodies.

There’s a new show on the CW (in America) called “Gossip Girl.” It’s just started, but last night on episode 4, the show opened with an homage to the opening scene of Breakfast at Tiffany’s. I’ve put a clip I found below, but until I figure out how to cue up YouTube videos to just play the bits I want, I’m afraid you’ll have to skip to the 1:32 mark and play until 2:23 to see the whole thing. Watching beyond that is optional:

Edit: The video has been taken down, but I do have screengrabs for you. Maybe someday the clip will be put up and can stay up, but in the meantime, these will have to do. Just imagine “Moon River” playing in your head and you’ve got it.

Monkey Do Collective is a cute, crafty website with lots of neat little things to covet. But the one I covet the most, and you probably will too, are these fabulous Audrey Hepburn notecards. They come in sets of five, $8 a set, and are blank on the inside so you can make the cards mean whatever you want, which is nice. You can see different views of the cards here, as well as order some if you must have them.

In what may be the most expensive piece of Audrey Hepburn fan art yet, artist David Smith has made a painting of Audrey as Holly Golightly using 11,000 hand-placed rhinestones. You can see the picture to the left, unfortunately that’s the best I could find so far. But if you’re in the Clydebank (West Dunbartonshire) area, or will be anytime in the next two weeks, then you may want to stop in the Gate Gallery, Drumchapel and see the piece for yourself.
