Instantly recognizable as a scene from Funny Face, right? Or do I just know my Audrey movies too well? There’s a small blurb from Glamour and Miss Emma herself:

Any thoughts? I know Emma doesn’t look like Audrey (in fact, I think she’s nearly the spitting image of her aunt Julia), and I don’t know if she’s a fan, but it’s still nice to see Audrey represented as a women’s icon, and especially nice to see a fresh face made up as her.

Well, it’s been a while, hasn’t it? I apologize again and again, it’s all my fault and my lack of a good regular Internet connection. Did everyone have a fun Halloween? Did you flood the streets with Holly Golightlys? It seems the

Speaking of being easy to recognize in costume, I found myself without a costume the morning of Halloween, due to a fabric malfunction the night before. On short notice I ran out and got a black turtleneck and borrowed some loafers, and hit Hollywood as Jo Stockton (Funny Face). There were loads of people there, but through the whole night I only heard 10 people (not counting my two companions) realize it was an Audrey costume! I guess I should have tried that outfit the year that Gap commercial came out. Anyway, at a party later on in the night Holly Golightly, Eliza Doolittle and Jo met up:

It sounds like the setup to a joke, but no punchline comes to mind. (By the way, Eliza is played by Kendal, well known on our forums as well as the audrey1 forums.) Anyway, did anyone else dress up as Audrey and meet a twin?

Moving on, I’ve got some odds and ends to share. First, I’ve been slowly catching up with the site’s email, and had a request that’s really stumped me. Hopefully, someone out there can help! Tracey wrote in after seeing a gorgeous poster in a Flor catalogue, and the customer service people had no idea as to where it came from. I’ve never seen it before, but would sure like a copy! Here’s the picture:

You can click on the picture for the full-sized version. Unfortunately, the chandelier obscures all the text, but I’m fairly sure that’s French. Does anyone have any ideas as to where this came from? It may be a reprint of a vintage poster, though one I’ve never seen before. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated!

Next up, this year is the 50th anniversary of Breakfast at Tiffany’s. The book, that is. The movie’s birthday won’t come up for another three years. The book is due to be released soon, with the vague publication date of November 2008, though I can’t seem to find it on Amazon yet. Since B@T is short, a novella really, it’s matched up with three other short stories under this stylish cover:

And lastly, speaking of reissues, curse Paramount Studios! Just as I’m starting to catch up on my Audrey DVDs, they have to go and re-release nearly all their Audrey films. *sigh* The worst part is that you know I’ll buy them all. You probably will, too! Well, if you’re trying to save on space and don’t see the point of owning multiple versions of one film, you can always go the Audrey route and donate or give away your older versions. I like senior centers, myself, since they’re always in need of entertainment and would definitely appreciate some Audrey Hepburn in their lives. Coming November 11th, just in time for the holidays, is Roman Holiday and Sabrina. Marketed under the Centennial Collection, both films feature all of the extras from previous DVD releases, plus some new featurettes and goodies that will hopefully make it worth your while. Just after the holidays, due out January 13th, comes Funny Face and Breakfast At Tiffany’s — yes, again. Both just celebrated anniversaries and had special editions come out, but now it comes in more dramatic packaging, also under the Centennial Collection. There’s no additional information on these, so I don’t know if there’s anything new, but there’d darn well better be. People are starting to think I’m crazy, with three copies of every movie on my shelves!

Here we have the stylish Amy, who wasn’t afraid to take her Audrey style out all day to work/school (sorry, I can’t tell which it is). The classic Holly Golightly tiara is firmly in place, along with the chic ciggie holder, pearls, opera gloves, little black dress and kitten heels. Also note the fab oversized glasses, for slipping past those pesky guys who just can’t leave a pretty girl alone. Way to rock it, Amy!

And here is the eternally stylish Courtney, hanging out at the library like Holly was wont to do when studying up on Brazil. Have you met a rich, handsome Brazilian and not told us? Courtney sports the upswept pineapple ‘do Holly is famous for, along with a tiara accent and some pearls for extra class. She actually sent two pictures in, and in the other picture you can see her cute black mini dress better, but I just like how much this shot looks like Holly’s classic breakfast picture. Très elegant!

And here is the fab Jennifer, who coincidentally looks an awful lot like a certain other Jennifer who played dear Audrey in The Audrey Hepburn Story. Crazy, isn’t it? Jennifer rocks the towering beehive and wispy fringe Holly was famous for, along with some really fantastic jewelry. The necklace is a great replica! Let’s not forget the sleek opera gloves and long gold ciggie holder, and the classic bateau neck black dress that oozes class and style. Magnificent!

I hope you enjoyed seeing all of these lovely ladies showing you their Audrey best as much as I did! I’m happy to see that women still admire Audrey Hepburn and love her kooky Holly Golightly as much now as they did forty years ago when Breakfast at Tiffany’s was still new.

First up is the lovely Kasey, who says that her dress was an Isaac Mizrahi (who is very influenced by Audrey’s style, obviously!), her shoes were Cole Haan, the lovely triple-strand pearls were from Macy’s, the gloves from Claire’s (a great place for gloves, by the way), Tiaratown for the Holly Golightly tiara replica, and her cigarette holder came from a flapper website. With a little bit of shopping around and craftiness, she was able to make her own Audrey style. Bellissima!

Next is the fab Taylor W., who went all out with pearl earrings, a rope of pearls and some wrist candy — oh, and of course the Tiffany & Co. bag. Nice touch! There’s no mistaking who she’s supposed to be, especially with the oversized movie star shades and ciggie holder. The lady to Taylor’s left is obviously thinking, “Oh my god, that’s Audrey Hepburn!” Nicely done, Taylor! By far the classiest lady in the room that night.

Here is Shawn, who’s done a fantastic job recreating Audrey’s iconic Breakfast at Tiffany’s pose — the one where Holly is actually having breakfast at Tiffany’s. I love the beautiful alternative to the usual tiara, it reminds me a little bit of My Fair Lady for some reason. The sweet little black dress, pearls, and gold cigarette holder all definitely say “I’m Holly Golightly,” though. Well done, Shawn! I hope you framed this picture.

The last lady for today, but certainly not the least, is Taylor K. The “I’m with Holly” pose is classic, I love it! Add a swingin’ little black dress, some glamorous glasses and a ciggie, and you are Holly. The best part is the trick-or-treat for UNICEF box, which shows that Taylor’s heart is mirroring Audrey’s. An elegant touch!

I want to say thank you again to all of you fabulous women, for taking the time to show your love for Audrey by sharing your fantastic pictures. We’ll have one more installment of costume pictures, and then the prize winners will be drawn from a hat and announced. But at the risk of sounding cheesy, all of you who entered the contest are fabulous and winners for showing your inner beauty to us. Thank you!

Next up is Jordan, who said that the best part of being Holly was putting the costume together! She seems to have done very well, finding a dress from American Eagle, borrowing grandma’s earrings, getting the necklace from a local flea market, and a ciggie holder from a costume shop. Proof that with a little time and perseverance, looking like Audrey can be done by anyone. Great finds, Jordan!

And here is the lovely Melissa, with a classic and always in style Little Black Dress, a pair of stylish opera gloves, a lovely triple-strand pearl necklace, and a big Holly hat. Note the large, dark glasses, showing that Melissa is a true celebrity. Great job! (I also love the little ghost towel to the right.)

Our last model for today is Bridget, who brought a little elegance to her school for Halloween (so you can ignore the school pass around her neck). The dress is très cute, perfectly matching her ladylike gloves, pearls, and — wait, they let you smoke at school?

They’ve all done fabulously, haven’t they? There will be more costumes posted until the deadline of November tenth, so don’t be shy!

My Fair Lady will be co-hosted by Jan Wahl and Donna Sachet, and there will be a Night of the Fabulous Hat competition. So dust off your flying saucer hat and glue some false flowers on and enter yourself in the competition! Stay for the film while you’re at it.

Magically enough, admission to all three of these films is just $12.50 for adults, $8 for children. If you’re planning on being in the Bay area around July 29, definitely book yourself some tickets! And if you haven’t any plans, maybe you should consider a little trip to San Francisco. The fun starts at 1pm with Wizard of Oz, then a quick break before Funny Face starts at 4, and My Fair Lady kicks in at 7. It sounds like it will be loads of fun and a great way to introduce some friends to the magic that is Audrey Hepburn films.

P.S. Again, apologies for the sporadic updates. An ongoing computer problem has been fixed, and hopefully that will mean business as usual for all of us.

said that the European leg of the Timeless Audrey Exhibit should be launching sometime in 2007. I wrote Ellen Erwin, executive director of the Children’s Fund, to ask if any tour dates had been set as of yet for the tour. She was kind enough to write back, and it looks as if the tour will be delayed a bit. After traveling Japan for two years, the wall and platform props that are an integral part of the exhibit need to be refurbished, so it looks like 2008-2009 for the European tour. This just means more time to save money and plan for an Audrey-centered trip for some of us. We’ll have to wait a bit longer to see the exhibit, but it’ll look sparkling and brand-new, which is worth waiting for.

In other news, Natalie Portman is again drawing comparisons to Audrey Hepburn. This time it’s for the US premiere of Natalie’s latest film, Paris, je t’aime. She was sporting a cute black and white mod dress and a very Audrey updo, as you can see in the picture to the right. What do you think?
