showing your inner Audrey: part two

No Comments 12 November 2007

The costume contest is closed now, and we had so many fab entries! Even though all of these lovely ladies were channeling Audrey Hepburn, they each managed to have their own style as well and be completely unique about it. To give each of these ladies some room to shine I’m going to break up the last of the entries (the ones okay with sharing their pictures, anyway) into two groups. And so, without further ado, is part two of your Audrey style:

audreybag.com is now open for business!

No Comments 05 November 2007

After a little bit of a delay, audreybag.com is officially open for business and ready to take orders. Apparently, the site was delayed by just a couple of days because Luca Dotti was in charge of designing and maintaining the site, so communications had to go from Italy, where Luca is, to Santa Monica, California, where the Children’s Fund offices are. So for all you curious types out there who wonder what Luca’s up to, now you know. 🙂

Audrey Hepburn in the Ultimate Hotties list

No Comments 22 October 2007

I forgot to mention when I posted the Entertainment Weekly articles that Audrey Hepburn was also mentioned on the magazine’s website. EW is currently polling their readers via the site to see who the Ultimate Hottie is. The contest is still ongoing, but in the Ultimate Female Hotties: The 60s and Earlier, Audrey is definitely on the list:

Ultimate Hottie Moment Wearing a slinky black dress and clutching a long, skinny cigarette holder in 1961’s Breakfast at Tiffany’s.

You can see Audrey’s page in the list here, and view the competition in general here.

Holly Golightly’s earplugs

1 Comment 19 October 2007

By now you know how to live like Holly Golightly, have her clawfoot bathtub-turned sofa, have the wardrobe and sleep mask, but what’s missing? Ah! The blue tasseled earplugs she uses to block out the noise of New York, the telephone (though stuck in a suitcase), and that pesky door buzzer. Thankfully, some clever person at ecrater.com has come to our rescue and made a replica of Holly’s earplugs for you to wear, and they actually reduce noise as well.

an oil paint obsession with Audrey Hepburn

No Comments 17 October 2007

I’ve just found an excellent story that I’m sure everyone will love! From the North Devon Gazette comes the story of John Pollitt, an 84 year old retired metalworker who hasn’t painted in more than 50 years. A while ago he was in a video store and came across Breakfast at Tiffany’s and My Fair Lady. Intrigued, he bought the films and watched them at home and wanted to know more about leading lady Audrey Hepburn. He then bought a book biography on her and started watching biography programs on her when they were on TV, and finally dusted off his paint supplies and started painting her. So far there are 16 portraits of Audrey, from Audrey as Holly Golightly to Audrey in her final role as Goodwill Ambassador to UNICEF, holding a small child. You can read the full, wonderful story here, which I highly recommend.

I just love reading stories like this, don’t you?

I’ve noticed that lots of people have been coming here for Audrey Hepburn or Holly Golightly costume tips, and it got me curious. I would love to see what you guys look like dressed as Audrey! So I have a proposition for you: if you feel comfortable with this, I would love to see pictures of you dressed in your Audrey Hepburn best. It could be your Halloween costume or just an everyday outfit, but take a pic and send it in! They will be posted here and on our MySpace blog (with first name only, no full names for privacy and safety), and you will automatically be entered in our latest contest. One first place winner and two runners-up will be chosen at random by names drawn out of a hat. I must stress that you will not in any way be judged by your appearance or looks for this contest. It is strictly for fun and to encourage other fans to dress up and show off!

Audrey Hepburn sewing patterns: Fall 2007

4 Comments 13 October 2007

It seems I’ve been remiss in my duties again. A lot of women have been searching for Audrey Hepburn, Holly Golightly, or Breakfast at Tiffany’s sewing patterns so they can make their own costumes for Halloween (or everyday life, because Audrey Hepburn is year-round!), and I just left you to your own devices. I’ve felt guilty, though, and all day yesterday I scoured the Internet for suitable patterns to make you dream Audrey costume. Be prepared and take notes, because there’s a lot here! I’m also going to make this a regular theme, updating once a season for any new patterns, so check back once in a while for new goodies.

Breakfast at Tiffany’s voted Most Stylish — again

1 Comment 11 October 2007

It seems that just last month Breakfast at Tiffany’s was voted the most the Most Fashionable Film in movie history, and this month Teen Vogue follows suit with their list of Hollywood’s Most Stylish Movies. In the number one spot? Breakfast at Tiffany’s, of course! The list is actually a little surprising for a fashion film list and includes a lot of films I wouldn’t have pegged the Teen Vogue crowd as ever having seen, let alone see as fashion icons. It’s a very pleasant surprise, though, and makes Breakfast’s win even sweeter. To see the whole list for yourself, go here.
