how Cameron Crowe fell in love with Audrey Hepburn

Comments Off on how Cameron Crowe fell in love with Audrey Hepburn 06 March 2007

On iFilm there’s an interview with director Cameron Crowe about Elizabethtown, and he’s asked about his obsession with Audrey Hepburn. If you’re not familiar with his films, in Vanilla Sky there is a Sabrina reference, in Jerry Maguire there’s the line “That’s more than a dress; that’s an Audrey Hepburn movie,” and in Elizabethtown there’s footage of Roman Holiday (besides “Moon River” playing throughout the film and the obvious Kirsten Dunst as a modern Holly Golightly bit throughout as well). I won’t ruin it for you, so just click the link above to go to the video. It’s short at just under 3 minutes, so the interviewer doesn’t have a chance to get too annoying. 🙂

As a special bonus, here is an animation of cute little Parisian kitties prancing about to the tune of the instrumental “Bonjour Paris” from the Funny Face soundtrack. Such a great little song! Thank you to the shy one who sent this video in.

My Mother Thought She Was Audrey Hepburn

Comments Off on My Mother Thought She Was Audrey Hepburn 28 February 2007

Always looking for something new and amusing for your reading pleasure, today I’ve stumbled across two videos that sound interesting. The first is actually a short, 17-minute film seemingly made just for Asian-American studies, and it’s called My Mother Thought She Was Audrey Hepburn. It’s about a Chinese family living in San Francisco, and the mother of the family tries to make herself look all-American by emulating Jackie Kennedy and Audrey Hepburn. I really wish there was more information on this featurette, or that it was more widely available (unless someone out there really wants to buy a copy for $225, or rent it for $50). You can find a little more information on the film here, if you’d like.

The episode of “CSI: New York” with the larcenous trio of Holly Golightlys is airing again tonight! Catch it on your local CBS affiliate. (I was going to post a clip from that episode here as a teaser, but it’s been taken down.)

slow going in Audrey Hepburnland

I apologize for the lack of updates here lately, but there really is no news to report. Whatever does come in has already been covered here, and I’ve pulled out pretty much all of the older things I could rehash. So sorry again that we haven’t had much, but I’d rather be silent than give in to the junk that’s out there.

Larceny at Tiffany’s

Comments Off on Larceny at Tiffany’s 05 October 2006

I can’t believe I forgot to post the screengrabs from last week’s “CSI:New York”. It’s been a busy week, I guess. Well, now that everyone’s forgotten about it, here they are:

It looks like they went to the Jennifer Love Hewitt School of Dressing Like Audrey: short skirts, low necklines, and bad wigs [edit: don’t forget the square sunglasses!]. Still, please don’t be a jerk and steal these pictures to post elsewhere. If you want to share this post with someone, there’s a link directly below that will link directly to this entry. I don’t want to have to watermark all of my original pictures if I don’t have to. Thank you!

Edit: Sorry, I seem to have lost these. If you really want, I can screengrab the episode again. Otherwise, eh.
