I also just got a free message board from xsorbit today (rather nice), so that will be up soon. Hey, it's free, and it might be fun. :)
May 6, 2003. While signing up for a friend's message board, I got a free one myself! Check out the link to the left if you're interested in posting. You must register to post or view others' posts.
May 8, 2003. I added a few more pages of pictures to the 50s gallery, and posted a new gallery with rare magazine articles. There's more going in each gallery, so stick around!
later: I added more pages to the 50s gallery and a new news article to the articles page. Yeehaw!
May 12, 2003. Heh, sorry about that. Things got a bit crazy around here. Anyhoo, I put up the first two pages of the 60s gallery, so check those out. Also, someone joined my board. Yay! And thank you.
May 14, 2003. Sorry, big troll problems at the old site have been keeping me busy. Anyhoo, I'm pondering some new desktops and maybe a review coming soon. Also, keep an eye on the picture galleries: more should be coming soon.
May 15, 2003. Put up a great rare ad in the articles gallery, and I'm working on a movie gallery right now.
May 16, 2003. I've just linked to the Roman Holiday pages. So far, that's every single RH picture I have. Check out the gallery index.
May 20, 2003. My computer blew up again, and we're trying to figure out how to salvage some of our stuff before rebooting again. See? This is why you buy name brands, mom! Anyhoo, I guess there's no more picture updates for a bit, especially if I loose everything again. *Insert many swear words here*
May 27, 2003. The old computer's still down for the count. Ah, well. I'm on vacation anyways. :) Anyhoo, just received word that Wait Until Dark is coming out on August 5th on DVD.
May 29, 2003. The computer is back, and better than ever! As soon as we can slave the old hard drive, I'll get some more goodies up. Until then, hang tight, or have some fun on the board.
May 30, 2003. Ack, I have to get used to working on two sites again. I put up my one desktop so far, and a movie review is in the works.
June 2, 2003. Hi there. I've updated the news story on the Audrey stamp, due out June 11th. To save you a trip, I've decided to go to the dedication event, armed with my trusty Canon camera for guaranteed great pictures. We'll see what happens!
later: I added two more news articles: one on the stamp release, and the other (under May) on a new exhibit in New Orleans. Go to the news for details.
June 5, 2003. Sorry, been a little busy getting ready for the stamp dealio. I can't divulge yet, but there's a lot of potential in something and it's taking up my time. Stay tuned, though!
June 9, 2003. I've added a new page just for the stamp celebration. Check out the link to the left!
June 12, 2003. I just heard recently that Gregory Peck died last night in his sleep. He was 87 and went peacefully. We love you, Greg, and say hello to Audrey for us.
The stamps are here! The stamps are here! Go out and grab a sheet today. They're quite lovely. And if you don't live in America, find an American friend who wouldn't mind shipping them to you. Check out the stamps link to the left for exclusive Fab Audrey live coverage of the event! It was great.
June 14, 2003. Hi there. I just added some scanned pictures from the ceremony to the stamps page, so check that out if you'd like. I also saved two very nice newspaper articles on Gregory Peck, and I'll scan those and put them in the special scans section later. I also took down the older updates from this page and stuck them on a new page. Check out the archives link to the left if you ever need anything from there.
June 16, 2003. Hello. I've just added a new article on Gregory Peck's memorial service in the news section, with a link to a story on Yahoo. Otherwise, not much is going on.
June 17, 2003. Hi again. I'm sorry, poor board people, but xsorbit is having issues and I can't see my own board right now! :/ They're working on it. There's also a nice article on Gregory Peck's memorial service in today's paper, so when I get around to scanning the other articles on him, I'll add that. I would have gone myself, but I felt strange about showing up to a thing like that (I hate weddings, funerals, and hospitals), and it was such short notice. So the newspaper coverage should be enough.
June 18, 2003. Um, I think the board is way down now. When I try to look at it now, I get that ugly 404 error page saying that it doesn't exist. Anyone else have this problem?
June 19, 2003. Hi there. I'm kinda busy today, but I'm working on those Gregory Peck scans. There's a lot! And I just found out I'm missing the last page of the LA Times obituary on him, so I'm miffed about that. So stay tuned for those. P.S. Today is my birthday.
June 21, 2003. Hello again, and happy first day of summer! For those of you on the Northern hemisphere. I hope your weather is more summery than ours! Anyways, I signed up for a new message board, since xsorbit is still screwing around and won't tell me what's up. Next time, I'll be suspicious of being handed a free board just for signing up with someone else's board. So yeah, check out the link to the left, and I apologize profusely to the people who were already on my old one.
June 24, 2003. Hi there. I have most of the Gregory Peck articles scanned and cleaned up, but the scanner went a little nutso on the last two articles, and I have to stick everything together because a newspaper is bigger than my scanner bed. So real soon . . . I'm posting a newspaper article on the stamp exhibition in the articles section, and there might be some big news coming up soon. Stay tuned . . .
July 1, 2003. Sorry, got a little busy. Had an anniversary (yay!) and I'm getting ready for a big meeting (stay tuned, this involves you Audrey fans), and my scanner is still being poopy. I think I'll just have to reload the software for it. :/ Well, at least I didn't lose what I did scan so far. I'll work on pasting all that together, since it was so big I had to scan it in pieces. Look for the Gregory Peck articles in the Articles section soon. Also, if you haven't heard already, Katharine Hepburn passed away at the age of 96, and Buddy Hackett just died, too. It's a sad time we live in, to see all these greats passing away. :(
July 5, 2003. Hi there. Sorry, got a little busy the last couple of days. Anyways, I got wind that there was a special article on Audrey in Tuesday's L.A. Times, so I'm on the lookout for that. And it's been a long time since I put any new pictures up, since the stupid computer kept crashing. But I will start collecting again . . . right after I take a shower. ;)
July 6, 2003. Hi! I've just finished adding the Sabrina gallery, with 36 pictures so far. So hit the pictures link to the left and enjoy!
July 7, 2003. More sad news: Buddy Ebsen (Doc Golightly in Breakfast at Tiffany's) died Sunday morning at Torrance Memorial hospital (the same place I was born). He was 95 years old, a very good run, but still very disappointing to hear. Please check the news section for articles on him, Katharine Hepburn, and Gregory Peck.
later: I changed the biography section into FAQs, since I never would have been able to write just a short biography on her. Hope it helps!
July 8, 2003. I've finally added all the articles I have on Gregory Peck, plus today's newspaper article on Buddy Ebsen. Check out the galleries. They're all on the second page of the articles section (which I will redo soon, promise!).
July 9, 2003. Hi there. I just added two fashion articles in the news section, since they both mentioned Audrey and Givenchy a lot. They're pretty neat to read, and there's a slide show you can watch to judge for yourself.
July 10, 2003. Hi! Today was a big Audrey day for me. I have lots of news for you guys, but please be patient. I have to wait until I have places to point you, but Sean's book will be coming out soon. If anyone in Japan is reading here, the traveling exhibit will be in your neck of the woods next May (roughly). The exhibit is now in New Orleans, and is probably going to be extended until September. Other than that, I added a new poem under "On how to be lovely," another favourite of Audrey's. And stay tuned!
July 15, 2003. Hello again. I'm sorry it's been a while, but there was a death in the family and it's been pretty busy around here. But things should calm down for a few days now. Anyways, there's a new news article in the news section on Alexander Walker, author of Audrey: Her Real Story.
later: I've just updated the info on the Wait Until Dark DVD release. Check out the news to see more or pre-order.
July 17, 2003. I just got an alert on a new VH1 list of pop culture icons, and Audrey made the list! No word on where she ranks out of 200, so I guess you'll have to watch the show to find out. ;) Go to the news section for more details and air times.
July 18, 2003. Hi again. I got two new articles last night on Audrey, and I've just posted them. One is a really cool article about a super-rare Breakfast at Tiffany's poster that's going to be sold on Ebay. Even if you're broke (like me ;) ), just check it out under news and have a gander. The other article is about elegance, and of course our dear Audrey is mentioned. Enjoy!
July 23, 2003. Hello all! I'm sorry I haven't updated in a few days, but I'm away from home until Sunday, so there's not much I can do. But when I get home I'll work on posting some more pictures, and I'm pondering what film to review next. Hmm... Other than that, stay tuned, check out the message board, and have fun!
July 26, 2003. Ahhh, home again. Which is good for you guys, since that means I can do things here again. :) I'm working on a big project, but in the mean time, I'll get some pictures together for ya. Not tonight, 'cause I'm beat, and tomorrow I'm busy most of the day, but soon. Otherwise, the British magazine Hello! has a big fashion spread on Audrey this month. If you live on the other side of the pond like me, check Borders or other bookstores with large magazine sections. You might find it there. Auf Wiedersehen!
July 28, 2003. I'm working on something for you guys, don't worry! In sadder news, Bob Hope died. :( I guess we all expected it so soon after everyone else went, but it's still sad to see someone so great pass on. We all have to go, good or bad, but that doesn't make it any easier.
later: I've just added a quotes page full of quotes from Audrey and what others have said about her. And there's more coming! There's one of my projects for ya. Enjoy!
July 31, 2003. New thing for you to play with: e-cards! Yay. :) There's 12 pictures to choose from right now, and I'll be adding a few more later (I can have up to 20). Try it out!
August 1, 2003. Hi all! Just a quick, big thank you to everyone that's come here since this site opened on May 4th of this year. Over 400 hits so far! I'm really pleased this has gone so well so far and hope that everyone's enjoyed this place. Thanks again, and I appreciate it so greatly! Have a great day. (Gotta go grocery shopping.)
August 2, 2003. Hi again. I bought the special edition of People magazine that coincides with the VH1 top 200 pop culture icons list, since Audrey is featured. I'll scan it and post it soon, but right now I hurt soooo bad! Went to a company picnic today and got burnt to a crisp, so it hurts to sit (back of the knees are deep red) or move my arms (burnt from my sleeve ends to my knuckles). Anyhoo, if you're an avid collector, go buy that magazine for $11. She's only on two pages, and I'm personally not happy with some of the people they chose for this list (lots of flash-in-the-pans), but she does lead off the style section. And Katharine Hepburn has a funny quote about people mistaking her for Audrey and hugging her in the street. Later! Promise.
August 3, 2003. Alrightie. I've cleaned up the articles pages so they load a lot faster, and on the second page you can find both pages of Audrey's spread in the new People issue that I mentioned before. Ta ta!
August 5, 2003. Hiyo. Don't worry, I haven't forgotten this site. I've just added three new links to the links page, including a fun little quiz everyone should take. I think the results fit me quite well. ;) And I'm also working on a ton of pictures right now, so you'll start seeing those soon.
August 7, 2003. Whoopsie, I forgot to mention last update that Wait Until Dark is now out on DVD. I was at Best Buy last night and didn't see it, but then again, I can never find her DVDs there! Hopefully you guys are having better luck, or preordered it. Other than that, check the bottom of the news page for a new story about a big UNICEF party coming at the end of the year.
August 8, 2003. Hi there. I just added a War and Peace gallery with 35 pictures to start with. Nice, huh? ;) I also have more pictures for other galleries, but another day. Getting tired. Enjoy!
August 10, 2003. Hey, this site hit 500 today! Again, thank you to everyone who stops by. Wow, that was fast. Guess I should get some goodies up for you, huh? ;)
August 15, 2003. Hi all. Sorry I haven't updated in the past couple of days, but I opened up a free shop and made the mistake of telling my mum. So now she's been working on her shop 24/7! But it is really addicting. ;) Anyhoo, it's reeeeelly hot and I'm kinda busy the next few days, but maybe I can get some pictures up for you.
August 19, 2003. Hi again. It looks like mum's finally settling down, so I can actually do things online again. I still have some pictures to fix up and post, and I should have a Gregory Peck quote about Audrey coming up soon. Stay tuned!
August 21, 2003. And hello again. We're almost at 600! Very proud. :D I just posted a little news story about Hermes handbags in the news section. I personally think it's a little silly, but it does cite the lady who bought Audrey's Hermes bag a couple of months ago at auction. Check it out!
August 22, 2003. . . . and we're past 600! Very pleased. :) Guess I'd better put up some more goodies to keep you all coming back, huh? Anyone have any ideas for neat things, or any special requests? Please let me know and I'd be happy to do it for you. Just use the contact button at the bottom of this page.
August 25, 2003. Hi there. Don't worry, I'm still alive and well, and I didn't forget about this site. I'm just working on something that's not up for you guys yet. It should be pretty cool and fun -- if I can figure out how to do it right! Stay tuned.
later: I forgot to add that today is Mel Ferrer's (Audrey's first husband) birthday. He's 86.
August 27, 2003. Good news! There seems to be a release date and some basic info on Sean Ferrer's new book on his mother. Check out the board under announcements, or head on over to the news section and scroll down to October. Also, I just got a little card in the mail today from the Christopher Reeve Paralysis Foundation about his upcoming birthday. I don't know if you can do it from the Internet, but try to sign a birthday card for him and show your support to a worthy cause. www.christopherreeve.org. Cheers!
August 29, 2003. Great news! If you've been reading the message board, you know that the Audrey Hepburn Children's Fund was going to have a special with Sean Ferrer's new book on his mother: pre-order a copy through them and it will be shipped to you signed. Now they're officially taking orders! Run over and reserve your copy. www.audreyhepburn.com
August 30, 2003. Hey there. I'm housesitting again, and the Internet connection here is absolutely awful, to put it nicely. So if you don't see anything new up here for a week, don't worry -- I just can't get online to do anything.
September 5, 2003. Ahhhh, home. I just realized tonight that Bravenet had updated their codes and stopped working on the older code -- and never bothered to tell me. >:( Guess that's what I get for using free stuff. Okay, I'll try to add something new next week, 'cause I'm beat and booked solid all weekend.
September 8, 2003. Hey there. Thanks to KateNAudrey of the board, we have a neat new news story about a screening of Roman Holiday in L.A. towards the end of this month. Check out the news section for a little more detail and a direct link to the thread, or hit the message boards and try to find it yourself. And thank her while you're at it. ;)
September 9, 2003. Hi again. Today I've added a new quote by Gregory Peck to the quotes section. It's really great, and I risked the life of my poor videotape rewinding and pausing it over and over to get it right. I've also added a little link at the bottom of this page to vote for your favourite Audrey site, if you have one. And on the links page there's a link to a site I just found dedicated to Audrey's humanitarian work. Definitely worth a look. Take care!
September 10, 2003. We hit 700 today, and to reward all you nice people, I added nearly 40 new pictures in the Sabrina gallery. No no, thank you. :) And I've been scanning some more, so keep an eye out for more pictures in all areas.
September 12, 2003. I'm sorry I didn't update yesterday like I'd planned, but I just didn't feel right for many reasons. And today I found out that John Ritter (Three's Company) and Johnny Cash are dead, so this day isn't looking so great either.
September 16, 2003. Things are starting to get busy here, and I bet they won't slow down until after the start of November. I'll try not to forget this place! I'll work on cleaning up some more pictures for you and use up that new disk space I just took out. :)
September 18, 2003. I've added a new page of various 50s pictures for your viewing pleasure (that's 15 new pics). I've also updated the gallery index so that you can pick any one page from the index, rather than having to skip through all those pages to get to the new stuff. So check out page 9 for the new photos.
September 22, 2003. Still alive! Just getting busy. But to make up for it (and it's only going to get worse), I've added a new gallery. It's at the bottom of the gallery index, and there's two pages of new pictures for you to peruse. The least I can do, really. :)
September 26, 2003. Well, I didn't get to go to the special screening of Roman Holiday (stupid waste of time posing as "necessary" training!), but my sis brought me back a program, which I've scanned for the rest of you who couldn't make it. Check the second page of articles in the picture galleries. Also, check the boards. I'm sure our moderator, Kendal, will have lots to say on the subject. :)
about five minutes later: I've just added an update to the news section about that traveling exhibit of Audrey's belongings that started its journey earlier this year. Check the very bottom of the page under May of 2004 for more details.
September 28, 2003. Well, starting later today (as I write in the wee morning hours), things get really busy with me. But I've been scouting out new pictures for your viewing pleasure, and some big news should be coming up soon. *crosses fingers and toes* In the mean time, I added a new link for Audrey games, and I'm also working through Quizilla to make some nifty Audrey quizes. Stay tuned!
later: Just a quick note to say that Elia Kazan, a real phenomenon of stage and screen, died today at his home. I know he's not exactly Audrey-related, but he was a great presence in her time and ties in with Natalie Wood, another actress I like.
October 1, 2003. Still here! I'm still gathering a lot of pictures and I've started cleaning up some of them already. In the mean time, check out the board or think of something really great that you'd like to see here and let me know. Contact info at the bottom of this page.
October 3, 2003. For your viewing pleasure, I've just added 4 pages of pictures from Funny Face. You're very welcome. :D Enjoy!
October 7, 2003. I've added a new link to an Italian website. Even if you don't understand a word of Italian it's still easy to navigate, and there seems to be lots of really great pictures on there. So check it out!
Also, you'll notice a new link to the left for the Roman Holiday screening. Instead of making everyone wade through the message board, I've reposted Kendal's experience at the screening on a new page for you to read at your leisure. You're welcome. ;)
October 9, 2003. Firstly, a big Happy Birthday to my other favourite person, John Lennon. I'm thinking about you, wherever you are. :) Secondly, we hit 1,000 today! And to thank you, I've added two new pages of pictures from the 1950s (pages 10 and 11). I'd add more, but I need to feed myself before I head off to work, so that's all for now. Enjoy!
October 15, 2003. Hello, sorry it's been a while. But I just got a new news bit through e-mail about a UNICEF event in Boston for Sean's new book on Audrey, so go to October in the news section for details.
October 26, 2003. Hi! Yes, I'm still alive, just busy and worn down from work. I only get one day off this week, but after next Sunday I'm done, so after I've slept for 4 days straight, I'll work on some good new things. :) Later!
November 3, 2003. Just a reminder that Sean Ferrer's new book on his mum is on the shelves at your local bookstore. If you didn't get to pre-order a copy through the official Audrey site or through Amazon.com, now you can run out to the store and buy it yourself. And still get it before the people (like me) who pre-ordered it and still don't have it. :P
November 10, 2003. Hello again to everyone. I apologize for things not going according to plan in my life, which leads me away from here longer than I would have liked. But cross your fingers and toes that things really do slow down now so I can get some goodies up for you patient people. :) This morning I got my copy of Sean's book (finally!) and I've been flipping through it, just enjoying the pictures. I've decided already to read it all and post a review here, as well as on amazon.com. I've been pondering whether I should have a little Audrey biography guide to help out people wondering where to start in their reading, and this could be the start of it. So if I'm gone for a few more days, I'm slaving over this wonderful book for you. ;)
November 13, 2003. Don't worry, I've got things brewing in this little head of mine for you. :) I changed the little welcome above into a quote from our lovely lady, and it might change every once in a while. I'm shopping for a good webring to join, but they all seem defunct. Looks like I might have to make my own . . . Other than that, give the message board a whirl and say hello to some newbies, or check out Sean's new book. I absolutely love it so far: the pictures are to die for and you get recipes for some of Audrey's favourite foods! I found out her favourite pasta dish is mine, too. :)
November 17, 2003. Hi again. Still a bit busy, but I did make a review page for Sean's book. It's nothing fancy, just my small, informal review reposted from Amazon.com with a bit extra added. If you're curious (or just bored), it's on the reviews page.
November 19, 2003. I just got a letter from Meetup.com and they're trying to put together an Audrey meetup in Southern California. If you live out here and are interested in meeting fellow fans, please stop by http://audreyhepburn.meetup.com and sign up. It's free and you can vote on a venue, and it sounds like fun!
November 25, 2003. Hello everyone. Sorry I sort of disappeared for a while, but I'm housesitting and forgot to mention that the Internet connection here is pretty much non-existent. I'm honestly surprised I haven't been booted yet! But I just wanted to let everyone know that things are still definitely alive here. If you haven't noticed, I've joined two Audrey webrings recently. If you haven't yet, please check them out and look at the other members of the ring. You can never have too much Audrey. :D And if I can't get on again, Happy Thanksgiving to all who celebrate it -- and even those who don't.
December 4, 2003. Eek! I didn't realize it'd been a while since I updated. Sorry about that. Anyhoo, I've been a bit busier than planned, but the message board is going pretty well right now, so there's something to keep you busy. We're teaching each other foreign languages right now for fun, so drop by und sprechen Sie Deutch mit mich. Or not. ;) And I'll work on something nice to make up for all the time I've been negligent.
December 6, 2003. Hi again. I've added a new little newsstory about Liv Tyler being inspired by Audrey. You'll find it at the bottom of the news page, since it's the end of the year and all. A nice story to read. :)
later: I've also added a link to a story telling what all happened at the UNICEF gala a few days ago. I like the additional mention of George Harrison in the story. Really nice.
December 16, 2003. I found something really neat this morning: if you're ever out in the New York area and want a neat place to eat with some real atmosphere, head on over to Scarlatto's. It's got a Rome theme going on, and to reinforce it, they have giant screengrabs of Roman Holiday pasted on the walls. *insert "know Audrey? I had lunch with her!" jokes here* For the address and more, hit the news page for more information.
P.S. For those of you interested, the auction of Audrey's My Fair Lady and Nun's Story sketches are going up on the block today! You can watch live online.
December 20, 2003. Sorry I've been gone for a while -- busy month for everyone. But if you stop by the official Audrey site (audreyhepburn.com), you can now buy these really nice looking t-shirts designed for the traveling exhibit. I've had mine for quite a while now. :) In fact, I took a picture of myself in it the day I got it! Nerd, I know. ;) Anyhoo, stop by and at least look at the shirt in the new shop. It's lovely.
