And we’re back

No Comments 04 December 2007

Hello all, and many thanks for your enduring patience with me. To make a long life story short, I decided at the last minute to drive 500 miles south and spend the holiday with my family, since I hadn’t had a holiday with them in 3 years for one reason or another. My mum’s accident made me realize that our time with each other is limited, and I need to make the most of it. My baby nephew also turned one year old and his favourite aunt had to be onhand for that momentous occasion, of course. 🙂 I also managed to write a novel for NaNoWriMo, but that’s a different story, get it?

Long story short, I’m back and we have a lot of catching up to do! Here’s a short list of things that have been going on in the world of Audrey Hepburn lately:

The influence never ends

Just a quick note to let everyone know that eagle-eyed reader Amy Beth has spotted another great Audrey-style dress from Target. This one is the Merona Full Skirt TRW dress and has a tie-front waist and a flared skirt, very cute and stylish, and not unlike Holly Golightly’s tie-front dress from Breakfast at Tiffany’s. You can see the picture to the left and learn more about the dress by clicking on the name.

Audrey Hepburn sewing patterns: Fall 2007

4 Comments 13 October 2007

It seems I’ve been remiss in my duties again. A lot of women have been searching for Audrey Hepburn, Holly Golightly, or Breakfast at Tiffany’s sewing patterns so they can make their own costumes for Halloween (or everyday life, because Audrey Hepburn is year-round!), and I just left you to your own devices. I’ve felt guilty, though, and all day yesterday I scoured the Internet for suitable patterns to make you dream Audrey costume. Be prepared and take notes, because there’s a lot here! I’m also going to make this a regular theme, updating once a season for any new patterns, so check back once in a while for new goodies.

get Star-Struck with Audrey Hepburn

No Comments 28 September 2007

From now until October 28th, The Women’s Museum in Dallas, Texas will have an Audrey Hepburn dress on display, along with other celebrity gowns, in an exhibit called Star-Struck: Hollwood Costumes & Designers, 1932-2006. Sadly, I couldn’t find out which dress is going to be on display, but if any of you will be in the Dallas area within the next month, you could stop by the exhibit at the State Fair and take some pictures for the rest of us. The museum will be showing a large collection of dresses along with about 50 costume sketches, many of them nominated for (if not winning) awards. You can find out a little more about the exhibit, including times and admission prices, here.

Christie’s to auction off more Audrey Hepburn memorabilia

1 Comment 08 May 2007

Christie’s broke records and made international headlines when Audrey Hepburn’s most famous little black dress, the iconic black column dress from the opening scenes of Breakfast at Tiffany’s, sold for an unheard of £467,200 on December 5 of last year. This year, Christie’s hopes to induce another bidding frenzy by auctioning off yet another classic Breakfast at Tiffany’s dress at the end of the month. The dress going up for sale on May 30 in New York is Holly’s cute little pink cocktail dress, worn in a pivotal scene in the film. Worth noting in this auction is the fact that, unlike the black dress auctioned last December, this pink dress was actually worn by Audrey in the film and possibly even afterward for publicity photos. This dress is expected to fetch between $20,000-30,000. You can read the details for yourself here on the Christie’s website (though if you somehow haven’t seen Breakfast before, please don’t read the Lot Notes at the bottom of the page because it does contain spoilers).
