1 Comment 28 September 2017

Breakfast at Tiffany's script in LAWhile Christie’s has provided a sales number for the live auction held at their London flagship location, the online auction is ongoing, with the last items ending October 9. News is still scarce, but what I can say for certain is that Breakfast at Tiffany’s now holds the records for most expensive costume from a film, and most expensive film script ever sold at auction!

pictures of the Fernanda Gattinoni exhibit

1 Comment 31 July 2010

The recent exhibit on Italian designer Fernanda Gattinoni had its last day in Paris yesterday, but if you couldn’t make the exhibit, no worries. Lovely reader Castor was kind enough to visit and take loads of pictures, which she said I could share with all of you. She was also kind enough to translate the text pertaining to Audrey, which I will copy and paste for you. So, without further ado, Castor’s pictures for everyone to enjoy:

Fernanda Gattinoni

Yet another costume exhibit! This one is set in the 7th arrondissement of Paris, next to the Eiffel Tower but distinctly Italian in feel. It’s a showcase of Italian designer Fernanda Gattinoni’s designs from the 1950s and 60s, and while it mainly focuses on her evening gowns for Italian starlets worn at film premieres and other galas, there is a separate section dedicated just to her designs for War and Peace, which Audrey Hepburn wore. While the film may be more than a big long, I do love watching it just to see how stunning Audrey looks, especially in that airy white ballgown with the Empire waist (left).

Audrey Hepburn film reels

PrinceCharmingxoxo from You Tube was charming enough to upload a fantastic array of British newsreel clips featuring our one and only Audrey! The clip runs at 10 minutes, and is mostly footage we haven’t seen before: Audrey at the premieres of My Fair Lady, War and Peace, and the Nun’s Story, along with footage from the Academy Awards and a very early (uncredited) appearance that you won’t believe! So watch the clip, and then drop PrinceCharming a note saying thanks for the goodies.

War and Peace, rewritten

Comments Off on War and Peace, rewritten 19 February 2007

It seems that War and Peace has been making some new waves recently. The classic, notoriously long book, which averages about 1500 pages, has recently been cut down and will be re-released as “half as long and twice as interesting.” Before Tolstoy fans start screaming “Blasphemy!” though, it’s worth pointing out that this “new” take on War and Peace comes from an earlier manuscript Tolstoy himself wrote. Worth noting is the fact that two main characters, who originally die in the finished book, live in this earlier draft. The new book shaves off nearly 500 pages, leaving you only 1000 pages to read. (That’s roughly the length of Gone With the Wind, which I’ve read 4 times.) If you’d like to learn a little more information on the new book, go here.

Breakfast – Dinner at Tiffany’s

Comments Off on Breakfast – Dinner at Tiffany’s 10 January 2007

While it’s not technically dinner at Tiffany’s, from February 26 to March 25, you can have a swank dinner while watching Breakfast at Tiffany’s at Foreign Cinema in San Franciso. Foreign Cinema is a pretty well-known (and well-regarded) restaurant in San Francisco, and I’ve always wanted to give them a try. Now I have the perfect excuse. 😉 If you’re interested in trying this yourself and will be in the Bay area during this time, please note that you must make reservations! You can do so on the website, or by calling (415) 648-7600 after 11 am. It looks like it’ll be loads of fun. I only hope I can keep from crying into my dinner!
